LIVE PAINTING BY TRAVIS LUTHER ON SATURDAY

Travis Luther is a born and raised Floridian. He is a self-taught artist who believes his art is a positive outlet to the everyday grind of life.

His positive outlet has created hundreds of pieces varying from graphite pencil drawings, oil and acrylic painting.

With a Florida theme being his main focal point for his art, he explores subjects from sea life to birds and Florida landscapes.

Being a fisherman himself he enjoys painting people holding their catch as an alternative to taxidermy. Which upholds his belief in conservation and capturing the moment to cherish for years to come.

2020 NGO Spring PaddleFest Postponed

To our Paddling Community,

After a great deal of careful consideration, given concerns about Covid-19, we have made the decision to postpone the 2020 NGO Spring PaddleFest until October 17, 2020.  We believe it is our duty and the right thing for our community to do what we can to keep each other safe in this time of uncertainty.

We will be reaching out in the next few days to those who have already registered for the race concerning reschedules/refunds.

We hope to see you all in the Fall for the Spring PaddleFest! In the meantime, thank you for your understanding, support and being a part of this community.

Take care,

NGO Staff

New for 2020: The NGO Spring PaddleFest race will be moving across the street to the Atlantic Ocean in 2020. Our racers asked for the ocean and they are getting it! Starting in 2020 there will be no entry fee for the "17 & Under" division of the Short SUP Race. And, the NGO Spring PaddleFest is participating in the newly formed Florida Paddle League presented by the Flying Fish Board Co. For more information on the FPL go to their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FloridaPaddleLeague/. Very exciting!

Day 7: Olukai

By giving back, we all move forward.

If you have not slipped on a pair of Olukai sandals or shoes, do your feet a favor and upgrade your sandal game. Olukai applies the “Wet Sand Principle” to build footwear by the feeling of walking barefoot in wet sand. The contoured footbeds deliver the perfect balance of comfort and lasting support. Not only does Olukai make the most comfortable sandals on the planet (in our humble opinion), they are committed to their culture and spreading Aloha.

Ama OluKai Foundation

Founded in 2014, the Ama OluKai Foundation is a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) located in the State of Hawai‘i. The Foundation partners with other committed and progressive organizations interested in the preservation of Hawaiian culture, and honors those who cultivate cultural heritage and the Aloha spirit of Hawai‘i.

In correlation with other Hawaiian based organizations, The Foundation works to preserve land and ocean, serve our communities, and maintain the Hawaiian culture and traditions. This is conducted through targeted programs designed to explore ancestral past to present day. The Foundation provides encouragement to those who benefit from its partnerships to carry forward the spirit of giving for future generations.

Certified B-Corporation

OluKai heritage of good works stems from Hawai‘i’s cultural value system. Since inception we have consciously guided our business practices with the ideas of:

Malama – by giving back to our community we support a collective effort greater than our own.

Island sustainability – those who live where resources are inherently limited naturally adopt practices that are efficient and sustainable.

In an effort to formalize our business practices we became a Certified B-Corporation in January 2014. We work parallel with 1,000+ other Certified B-Corporations across 33 nations and 60 industries to revive social and environmental performance standards. With our drive, we plan to create change across our communities and economies.

To become a Certified B-Corporation, we meet the higher standards of social and environmental performance and accountability. We’ve continued to increase our B-Corporation score with the implementation of new processes and procedures, as well as continuing to reinforce our current sustainable business practices.

OluKai makes the most impact in the following areas:

1. Community: We are assessed on our relationship with local communities, which includes community service and charitable giving, diversity, and relationships with our business partners.

2. Environment: We are evaluated on our environmental performance through energy usage, facilities (including manufacturing), materials and other resources. In particular, our selection of only Gold Certified tanneries to source our leather products helps to ensure we minimize waste water, use of water based cements in manufacturing helps to reduce hazardous substances, and lastly building a quality product that lasts longer helps to minimize our manufacturing footprint.

3. Workforce: We are measured on our organization’s relationship with its workforce, which includes company culture, compensation, employee benefits, training and work environment.

Day 6: Coastal Straws

Proudly a Ponte Vedra Beach company, Coastal Straws is doing their best to eliminate single use plastic one straw at a time. It’s not only great to shop in the community you live but when you can get some colorful fun reusable straws and help the environment at the same time….sounds like a triple win to us.

Coastal Straws Mission:

“We are #ForTheSea and committed to helping eliminate the amount of plastics and trash that ultimately end up in the worlds oceans. We want to see the world change starting one straw at a time. Our eco-friendly reusable straws and stainless steel straws are the perfect solution to help keep our oceans clean!”

Day 5: BOTE

As many of you know, North Guana Outpost is the premiere BOTE board dealer in Ponte Vedra Beach. So much so, BOTE has given us exclusive rights as ‘BOTE Ponte Vedra’ and if you have been into the shop you can see why. NGO carries almost the entire line of BOTE products to get our customers on the water with the best gear possible (and in style).

What you may not know about BOTE is they have done a couple of incredible outreach programs including Anything but Mainstream, Operation Phoenix, and Made by the Military. If you have a few minutes check out the videos below. Trust me, it’s worth your time.

When you’re shopping for your first or next stand up paddleboard, keep BOTE in mind.

Day 4: Pura Vida

What started as a surf trip to Costa Rica turned into a full blown bracelet and accessory business for two California surfers. Griffin and Paul purchased 400 string bracelets from local artisans in Costa Rica to bring back to the states and sell. Now they have employed over 800 artisans and are expanding so quickly they have expanded to employing artisans in El Salvador, India and on.

“At Pura Vida giving back has always been at the core of what we do, which is why we also created the Charity Collection. Over the last few years, we’ve partnered with more than 175 charities around the world to donate nearly $1.9 million to causes you care about. We’re always striving to do more and are constantly on the lookout for more charities that can benefit from Pura Vida Bracelets.”
